Frequently Asked Questions

Are there any fees involved to make a nomination?

No – there are no fees involved in any part of The Manufacturer Top 100.

Can I nominate more than one person in the same company?

Yes, but we only shortlist a maximum of 5 individuals within the same company.

Can I nominate someone who has already been included in a previous year?

You can, but not if they featured in the most recent two years. For example, if they were in The Manufacturer Top 100 2017, they can only be nominated again for The Manufacturer Top 100 2020. Your nomination must say what they have achieved since their nomination.

Can I nominate myself?

Yes, of course.

I have nominated someone – when will I be notified if my nominee has been shortlisted?

If your nominee has been shortlisted as a Top 100 in manufacturing figure, you will be notified mid-late June. If you do not receive notification, then your nominee has not made the list this time.

If I am shortlisted as a Top 100 in manufacturing figure, do I have to pay anything to be included in The Manufacturer Top 100 report?

No – there are no fees involved in any part of The Manufacturer Top 100.

I’ve been shortlisted as a Top 100 in manufacturing figure – what place did I make in the report?

The Manufacturer Top 100 is not ranked in a hierarchy; everyone is equal in their recognition as an inspiring individual. A small number of the Top 100 are highlighted as exemplars in the report with an extended interview.

I’ve been shortlisted as a Top 100 in manufacturing figure – who nominated me?

You will find out who nominated you when you are notified that you have been shortlisted.

I’ve been shortlisted as a Top 100 in manufacturing figure – who else is in the report?

The Manufacturer Top 100 is a secret until the launch event. You will find out the full list when the report is released at the launch event.

What is the judging process, and who is involved?

Nominations close on 17 May 2019. After this date, the panel of judges will independently assess using their professional opinion and the quality of the nomination, whether the nominee, in their opinion, is worthy of making the shortlist. The measure of eligibility will be based on the question: “To what extent is the nominee making a difference?” It is important to note that this is not about how powerful the individual is, but about their personal contribution to the company and/or the sector, and that the size of that contribution may differ drastically from nominee to nominee. Judges will indicate on a scale of 1-10 the nominee’s suitability, with 1 being the most unsuitable and 10 being the most suitable.

The judges then meet for the second round of assessment to decide on the final Top 100 and highlight exemplary figures within the list.

When will The Manufacturer Top 100 2019 be published?

The Manufacturer Top 100 2019 report will be revealed at drinks reception on the evening of 13 November in Liverpool. The report will be available to view online shortly after this date.

Where and when does the launch event of The Manufacturer Top 100 take place?

The Manufacturer Top 100 2019 report will be lanced at a drinks reception on the evening of 13 November in Liverpool.
